WHY DO WE NEED A PLAN FOR MARLBOROUGH PARK?

Kansas City Parks and Recreation is working on creating Improvement Plans for several parks in the Kansas City Parks and Recreation System over the coming years. Many of the parks we know and love today have not had a prioritized holistic improvement plan for decades. This is an opportunity to look at the assets and challenges in the parks today and look for ways to improve them for the future.

WHAT IS THE TIMELINE OF THE PLAN?

The timeline for the planning process is ongoing through spring 2023. The timeline includes working with residents through community workshops and working with park neighbors. The first community workshop was held in the Fall of 2022 (see the Events page for outcomes). The second community Open House was in February 2023 and the next Community Meeting will be an outdoor celebration in Marlborough Park on May 20th! Please sign up with your contact information so we can keep you informed.

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THIS PLAN?

One of the biggest goals for this project is to improve the safety of Marlborough Park. The goal is also for this to be a community process that listens to residents and park users about what they want to see in their community. As far as outcomes of the plan, the goal is to improve regular park maintenance so staff can be proactive rather than reactive to challenges in the park while creating spaces where residents can spend their time.
